My Favorite Phone App Right Now...Grows Trees.
I really like my smartphone. We're on pretty good terms. I currently own (or am owned by) a Samsung Galaxy S5.
But it is WAY too easy to get sucked into all of my email, social media, and news apps. So I've tried to get better at how much time I spend on my phone. (Including leaving it at home when going out with my wife and/or friends...crazy I know.)
Recently, I stumbled across a great app that uses my loathing of losing to keep me off my phone. It's called Forest: Stay focused. Put simply, it allows you to grow 'digital trees' when you stay off your phone.
You set an amount of time you want to stay off your phone (for work, homework, or loved ones) and if you stay off of it that long, you grow a tree! And if you close the app to go to something else on your phone, you kill your poor, young sapling.
I don't like losing. And today alone I've already spent 100 minutes off my phone and have grown 3 trees and 1 bush. (Though my friend Phil is starting to outpace me.)
Check it out. Go here and download it on your computer and/or phone.
And go grow some trees. And make some memories with friends or blow your boss' mind with your productivity.
Once you check it out, leave a comment below with what you think of the app!
